James had never seen anything so wonderful in his life. The smell was enticing and and all he could do was close his eyes and smile. He didn't know where these feelings were coming from. The deep dark color reminded him of the bow that held back Madeline's hair. The bow blended well with her dark mahogany locks. He thought she was the most invigorating girl he had ever seen. James opened his eyes and stared at it while it sat upon the table.
The old woman walked around the table and sat. With a rather large rusty knife in her hand she sliced through the thing, James did even know its name. A short gasp uttered through his lips. James was scared at what might of happened next. As she cut away he could see the insides. Reveling not one but two layers of beauty. The old woman reached for a plate, the wood warped and misshapen like the old lady from years of aging.
James stood there watching as she placed it in front of him. "Go on." she said. "Eat". James couldn't believe his ears. "Eat? Did she say Eat?" he thought. He lifted the piece to his lips and bit. He wanted to explode with emotion at first he wanted to cry. He never imagined such a magnificent taste. Then wanted to laugh and stuff every bit in his cheeks never having to swallow so the taste would linger.
But just as fast as the emotions came on they faded and all James was left with was anger. His cheeks were flushed pink his eyes filled with tears. James was filled with disgust and discontent not at the wonders he had just tasted but at the old woman.
"Sit." She said "I can explain."
